Kentucky State Police Warns of Deer Strikes

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – Kentucky officials are warning motorists to be on the lookout for deer. Kentucky State Police spokesman Lt. David Jude says half of all collisions with deer occur at this time of year. Last year, there were more than 3,000 deer-related collisions in Kentucky, including four that were fatal. November is often deer migration and mating season, creating a greater potential for crashes. Police say early-morning and evening hours are the time when deer are most active, as well as the time of day when it's harder for drivers to see, so motorists should be particularly cautious. The agency also reminds drivers to travel at moderate speeds, especially near woodlands, parklands, golf courses and streams.
