Louisville, KY – Dozens of the world's top thoroughbred racing champions, jockeys and trainers are in Louisville for the Breeders' Cup Championships, which begin today. The event is being held for the eighth time at Churchill Downs, and track president Kevin Flanery says there are plenty of story lines to interest even the most casual of fans.
One of the most anticipated races is Saturday, when six year old Irish mare Goldikova will compete for her fourth straight victory in the Mile turf race. This year's event also marks the return of Uncle Mo, who was last year's early Kentucky Derby favorite but was scratched due to illness. The Breeders' Cup races last year drew more than 114-thousand People to Churchill Downs. The event moves to Santa Anita Park in California next year.
