Hemlock Semiconductor Plant on Track

By Gary Pitts

Clarksville, TN – Hemlock Officials expect construction of a $1.2 billion dollar Semiconductor plant in Clarksville to be completed by its original projected date in late 2012. Long term plans for expansion, however, have no timetable. Company spokesman Jarrod Erpelding says much of the business centered around the solar energy industry has good long term growth potential. But, he says a sluggish economy has slowed growth for the time being. Erpelding says around 2,500 construction workers will continue to be employed through completion. The pre-expansion plant is expected to employ around 500 production workers once opened.
