Carbondale, IL – Bargaining teams from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and the Faculty Association Union are back at the bargaining table today, after failing to reach an agreement Tuesday. In a joint statement from the Faculty Association and the SIUC Administration, a 12-hour round of negotiations yesterday failed to produce a tentative agreement. Striking workers and their supporters have been on the picket lines since last Thursday, and students have held protests this week on campus. Administrators say they're doing what they can to fill classes with qualified instructors, but many students say the substitutes aren't getting the job done.
