Murray, KY – An illegal Marshall County dump is among 171 to receive more than $2 million in state funding for clean up efforts. Governor Steve Beshear announced "Kentucky Pride" funding today which today which comes from the fee charged for each ton of garbage dumped at a Kentucky solid waste facility. The state created the Kentucky pride fund in 2002 to assist in the cleanup of illegal dumps around the commonwealth. The grant requires counties to match 25% of the cost when cleanup is less that $50,000. The 25% match can be waived if the cost of cleanup exceeds that amount.
