Carson Center/Convention Center Contract Awaits Approval

By Gary Pitts

Paducah, KY – The Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center could soon take over management operations for the Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center. The CCC Board chose a proposed contract from the Carson Center from among five other management companies. The proposed $60,000 six month contract would provide the Carson Center $10,000 dollars a month for their services. Carson Center Executive Director Brian Laczko says only a few minor issues are left to discuss before final approval can be given.

"I know that the Convention Center is pushing for us to take over management on December 1, and if we can get all of these I's dotted and T's crossed, we'll be happy to do so."

Laczko says the Carson Center will take over most management responsibilities, but will not get involved with finances following the embezzlement scandal with J. Patrick Kerr. In the meantime, the Carson Center is providing two employees to assist interim CCC Director Steve Doolittle, who took over Mr. Kerr's responsibilities.
