Murray, KY – Governor Steve Beshear has selected eight Kentuckians to oversee his second inauguration celebration next month. Those selected represent areas throughout the state. The swearing-in ceremony for Beshear and Lt. Gov.-elect Jerry Abramson will be December 13th. The Governor has previously stated he would like a celebration fitting for the occasion but one which does not have a high price tag. Beshear says it is not fair to spend an exorbitant amount of money when so many people in the Commonwealth are struggling financially. Several free public events will be planned throughout inauguration day, including the Inaugural Ball and parade. The other statewide constitutional offices will take their oaths on Jan. 2.
