Murray, KY – The trial of a McCracken County school bus mechanic is underway in Paducah. Former school system mechanic Tommy Clement is accused of theft of property in excess of $10,000 among other charges. Prosecutors claim Clement kept proceeds from recycling scrap metal, stole fuel, and created fake invoices for needed parts. The Paducah Sun reports Clement and a fellow mechanic, Chris Stamper allegedly sold used spare parts to an auto-parts supplier, which would in turn sell them back to the garage, with both parties taking a cut of the invoices. Court officials expect the trial will conclude tomorrow.
