Yonts to Announce Pseudoephedrine Bill

By Shelly Baskin

Murray, KY – Kentucky 15th District Representative Brent Yonts is filing a bill in the next legislative session that would prevent convicted meth offenders from buying pseudoephedrine. The offender's name would be entered into a statewide registry that pharmacists would consult before the medicine could be sold. Offenders with a prescription, though, could purchase the medicine. The legislation would also limit the amount of pseudoephedrine any person could purchase to 7.5 grams a month or 60 grams per year to prevent multiple purchases. The bill will be considered during next year's general session which begins Jan 3.
