Montgomery County, TN – A vote to give Montgomery County, Tennessee teachers collaborative conferencing rights passed in a special election late last week. Officials say over seventy percent of teachers voted yes on the agreement. It allows them to negotiate issues like salaries, benefits, and working conditions. Under a new state law permitting the vote, teachers don't have collective bargaining rights. But collaborative conferencing gives teachers a voice in discussing working conditions.
