Murray, KY – State officials in Kentucky and Illinois are suspending many highway construction projects for the holiday, but some delays may still be possible. Starting at 3 this afternoon, Illinois' transportation department plans to suspend all non-emergency road work on highways and state roads. That work won't resume until midnight Sunday. Many roads will still have a few lanes closed, though. Officials say work zone speed limits remain in effect even if no construction workers are present.
