Kentucky Large/Food Animal Veterinary Incentive Program deadline Dec 1

By Rose Krzton-Presson

Murray, KY – Veterinary school graduates in Kentucky can still submit their application for the Kentucky Large/Food Animal Veterinary Incentive Program for another week. The Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation hosts the program in hopes of boosting the number of large animal vets in the state. The incentives help off student loans. Kentucky Farm Bureau President Mark Haney says most of the state's veterinary graduates are choosing not to work with large animals.

"The demand for veterinarians in all facets seems to be pretty high. They're choosing where it works best for them to live and have a practice and certainly be with their families. We understand that. But we're trying to encourage as many as we can to offer a practice to large animals in rural Kentucky."

Recipients receive up to $18,000 to go towards their outstanding student loans. For more information on this program visit www.kyfb.com.
