Murray, KY – In an unanimous decision Monday the McCracken County Fiscal Court decided to cease business dealings with the county's Humane Society. The move withdraws the remainder of the County's funding for the year, totaling $19,000. The West Kentucky Star reports the Fiscal Court also voted to file an open records request to inspect the Humane Society's prior spending habits. The Humane Society has been under fire recently after an undercover investigation found animals were being inhumanely euthanized. Most recently, Humane Society Board Director Shirley Grimes announced her resignation amidst the scandal. The Fiscal Court has agreed to fund a local temporary shelter until it decides when to open a replacement facility.
