Murray, KY – A proposed switch in health insurance providers may help Metropolis, Illinois address a budget shortfall. Representatives from Mutual Medical Incorporated met with the city insurance commission Wednesday. The Paducah Sun reports the proposed change from the city's current carrier Blue Cross Blue Shield would save the city $250,000 to $680,000 a year while maintaining current levels of coverage. Metropolis faces a deficit of $1.7 million. City officials have been trying to find ways to cut spending to address that shortfall.
