Murray, KY – The Murray State University men's basketball team faces off against rival Western Kentucky University tonight in Bowling Green. Coming into the 149th meeting in this storied rivalry, the Racers are touting a 7-0 record, while the Hilltoppers have struggled to start and are at 2-5. But first year MSU head Coach Steve Prohm says that record doesn't mean Western Kentucky isn't a good squad.
"They've played a tough schedule. VCU they played twice. They played Tulsa. The played LSU. They played St. Joes. So they'll be ready."
And he says he doesn't want his team getting tied up in the records.
"We've had a great start. Obviously it's exciting and we're glad to be 7-0. But it's a 29 game regular season, so it's the next day, and the next practice, and that's our focus."
Prohm says WKU has also played on the road quite a bit, but they get the Racers at home. Murray State is just back from the Great Alaska Shootout tournament, which they won. MSU versus WKU tips off tonight at 7:00 and can be seen on the Racer TV Network.
