Frankfort, KY – PETA is urging the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources not to repeal a ban on elephant rides at circuses and fairs. The animal rights group says elephants are too dangerous for children to ride. Elephant rides were banned in Louisville following a 1994 incident in which a man visiting the Zoo there was picked up and dropped several times by an elephant. A push to lift Kentucky's restrictions has led to strong opposition from animal advocates like PETA and the Humane Society of the United States.
