Paducah, KY – West Kentucky Community and Technical College was announced today as one of the Aspen Institute's top community colleges in the nation. At a ceremony today in Washington D.C., WKCTC received honors as the runner up for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. School President Dr. Barbara Veazy attended the event and accepted the honor on behalf of the school. Former U.S. Secretary of Education Richard Riley announced the WKCTC's award...
"This exceptional community college has increased its graduation rates faster than just about any community college in the entire country. And its done so by tackling just about every issue that matters to students."
Riley continued to praise WKCTC for its job creation efforts and advances in remedial education. WKCTC will receive a $100,000 dollar prize for the distinction. The grand prize winner was Valencia College in Orlando Florida.
