Murray, KY – The majority floor leader in the Kentucky Senate believes Governor Beshear can best make a lasting mark on the Commonwealth by working to fix the economy. Republican Robert Stivers, along with most state lawmakers, will keep an ear tuned to the governor during today's inaugural address. Once the economy warms up, the Clay County senator says Beshear's emphasis should be on improving the business climate.
While there is some sign of an improved economy, House Speaker Greg Stumbo says a full recovery remains distant. Stumbo believes the governor can use experience gained in his first term and a big re-election win to take bolder action in his second term.
