Paducah, KY – The McCracken County Fiscal Court wants changes in the operation of the financially strapped Julian M. Carroll Convention and Paducah Expo centers. In a meeting yesterday, commissioners agreed to pay half of a more than $113,000 dollar overdue power bill for the centers. But they also agreed to request a meeting with the city and the Convention Center Corporation to discuss the centers' future. Judge-Executive Van Newberry tells the Paducah Sun some hard decisions will have to be made, but the options on the table are closing the centers down, continuing operations or selling them. The CCC has struggled financially as of late due to minimal revenue coming in, and the loss of more than $230,000 dollars through an alleged embezzlement scheme earlier this year.
