AAA Advice for Holiday Travel

By Stu Johnson/Gary Pitts

Frankfort, KY – The holidays bring with them a sizeable increase in highway traffic all across Kentucky. AAA spokesperson Lila Mason says that's partly because the vast majority of travelers opt to make their trips by car. She says, with automobile travel, there tends to be more options.

"Travel by car remains the most popular mode of transportation because of the flexibility and affordability and convenience..when you are traveling by car and you do hit some bad weather that delays your trip..you have more options you know, your not stuck in the airport."

While some areas of the US have experienced some severe weather recently, AAA is not recommending travelers avoid those areas as of yet. Officials recommend keeping your eye on the weather forecast though, and be prepared to change plans accordingly.
