Murray, KY – Kentucky wildlife officials are looking for used Christmas tree donations. Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman Jeff Ross says many natural Christmas trees wind up in landfills after the holidays when they could be better used in lakes providing protective cover and habitats for fish. Ross says as lakes age, there's a need to replenish the woody habitat that rots away with time, and Christmas trees can provide that. Donated trees must be natural, clean and free of all ornaments, lights and tinsel. A map of Christmas tree drop-off locations is on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife website you can find a link here.
