Beshear Plans to Fight Hard for Expanded Gambling

By Drew Adams

Murray, KY – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear says he intends to push aggressively for a constitutional amendment in the upcoming legislative session to legalize additional forms of gambling, which could include slot machines and other casino-style games. Kentucky has a long history of betting on horse races but doesn't allow casino-style gambling. The Governor says he wants voters to decide whether to expand gambling beyond horse races, lotteries and charitable bingo games. He says a proposed constitutional amendment is being drafted and will be introduced in the state Senate within the first week of the legislative session which begins January 3rd.
