Murray, KY – Kentucky's State Board of Elections has fired longtime director Sarah Ball Johnson , effective at the end of this week. Board Chairwoman Secretary of State Elaine Walker says members voted 5-0 Wednesday to remove Johnson from the appointed position she's held for the past eight years. One of the state's leading experts on elections, Johnson has worked for the state board for 17 years. Johnson says she will miss the job but is looking forward to new opportunities. Walker says state board attorney Maryellen Allen will serve as interim director. She adds adjustments in leadership aren't unusual during changes of administrations.
