Cadiz, KY – The state fire marshal's office is continuing its investigation into the cause of two fires, one in Cadiz and one in Almo, that killed two people over the weekend. State Fire Marshal's investigator Bill Compton told The Paducah Sun Monday it's too early to determine the origin or cause of the fires that killed 87-year-old Mamie Banister in Cadiz and 38-year-old Tara Hickman in Almo. Compton will resume work today. Kentucky State Police spokesman Dean Patterson says while the causes of the fires have yet to be determined, residents need to be aware of winter fire hazards such as Christmas decorations and heaters.
