Murray, KY – Officials say the planned Dorena-Hickman Ferry overhaul is nearly complete. The ferry connects Kentucky and Missouri over the Mississippi River, saving local motorists over an hour of drive time. The ferry was sent to St. Louis last November for a complete overhaul, including upgraded engines and a new barge deck capable of carrying two tractor-trailers in addition to its normal compliment of cars. The Paducah Sun reports the ferry was scheduled to be back in service after the New Year, but officials say it may take another month.
