Murray, KY – Two separate fires burned land near the USEC facility in West Paducah Saturday. Dense grass and weeds dry from the winter months fueled the blazes. Responders spent several hours battling the fire, relying on four-wheel drive vehicles and pick-up trucks in the West Kentucky Wildlife Management Area. Officials claim more than 50 acres were consumed. While the fire was near the gaseous diffusion plant, it burned away from the facility. The cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
