Around these parts it seems like every day is catfish day. Nevertheless, by Presidential Proclamation (President Reagan in 1987), June 25 is officially recognized to celebrate "the value of farm-raised catfish."
Fortunately for us, catfish is all-American, found in nearly every region in North America - particularly the Four Rivers Region. The Tennessee Aquarium cites tall tales of catfish in the Tennessee River as being "as big as Volkswagens" and "as common as fleas on a dog." Catfish also have over 27,000 taste buds. Remember that next time you bite into one... who is tasting whom? Read more about catfish at the Tennessee Aquarium website.
It’s Monday, June 25
