Coal Miner Fatality at Webster Co. Mine

A Hopkins County coal miner has died after a continuous miner accident.  

36 year-old Nathan Phillips was operating the machine when he was pinned between it and the mine wall. The accident happened yesterday afternoon at Alliance Energy’s Dotiki Mine in Webster County. State mine inspectors are investigating the incident today.

This is Kentucky’s first mining fatality in 2016.

A proud native of Murray, Kentucky, Allison grew up roaming the forests of western Kentucky and visiting national parks across the country.
