Chad Lampe
Former Station ManagerChad Lampe, a Poplar Bluff, Missouri native, was raised on radio. He credits his father, a broadcast engineer, for his technical knowledge, and his mother for the gift of gab. At ten years old he broke all bonds of the FCC and built his own one watt pirate radio station. His childhood afternoons were spent playing music and interviewing classmates for all his friends to hear. At fourteen he began working for the local radio stations, until he graduated high school. He earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Murray State, and a Masters Degree in Mass Communication. Chad spent nearly 10 years as the News Director and Assistant Station Manager at WKMS. During that time he received dozens of state and national journalism awards from the Kentucky Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists and the Public Radio News Directors Inc..
After a national search, Lampe was named Station Manager in 2016. During his time as Station Manager Chad has served as the Public Broadcasting Director on the board of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association, the chair of the Association of Kentucky Public Radio Stations. Chad also spent a 16-week stint with NPR for the Public Radio Incubation Lab in 2019.
