Twelve people suspected of having COVID-19 are hospitalized at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, including four who are on ventilators to maintain their breathing, a hospital official said Friday.

Four of the patients are confirmed, through a positive test, to have the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, said Beth McCraw, vice president of nursing and clinical services. COVID-19 test results are pending for the other eight patients.

The Christian County Health Department said there are now 25 active cases of COVID-19 in the county, while three patients who had the disease have recovered.

County residents who currently have COVID-19 and tested positive for the disease fall into these categories provided by the health department:

  • Pediatric (0-21): 2
  • Young-Middle Age Adult (22-59): 13
  • Older Adult (60-84): 7
  • Elderly (85+): 3
