The Time Jumpers started as a group of performers jamming western swing between sets at the Grand Ole Opry. They took the sound to the Station Inn in Nashville and it came together from there. On Sounds Good, Tracy Ross speaks with Ranger Doug about what he enjoys most when playing live shows and what the audience can expect tomorrow night at West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Clemens Fine Arts Center.

The Time Jumpers play at WKCTC's Clemens Fine Arts Center tomorrow night, Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Arts in Focus Series.

The band lineup has changed over time, but they've been together as The Time Jumpers for about 15 years now. They've been nominated for four Grammy awards and Vince Gill has joined the band. They play about 30 road dates around the year and the band feels like a real family. Ranger Doug says he personally enjoys when all three fiddles are going at once and the fun swing beat of their music.

"The thing to me about this band is that everybody is such a seasoned professional. Nobody is trying to out do each other. There's no divas, there's no big egos. Everybody's proved anything they ever needed to prove. We're just there to have fun and play. And the audience sees us so enjoying what each of the rest of us are doing."

Ranger Doug says the crowd at WKCTC can expect to see 10 band members deeply devoted to good traditional music, premiere musicians in Nashville - the people who play on everyone's records not making music for anyone else but the music they want to play. The show will have a lot of energy, dance tempos and happiness.
