Graves Co. Sheriff Dewayne Redmon Reelected, Trial Set For April

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon was reelected Tuesday night despite facing drug and misconduct charges and being restricted in law enforcement duties.

Redmon--a Democrat--was the only candidate on the ballot and won with 4,852 votes. However, six write-in candidates accumulated a collective 5,380 votes with Jason Clark leading at 2,795. Chief deputy Davant Ramage had 1,872 votes.

According to an indictment, Redmon took Hydrocodone from a police drug drop box for personal use. Redmon pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in September. Christian County Circuit Judge John Atkins ruled that the sheriff can continue with administrative duties but restricted his ability to do law enforcement activities, including carrying a weapon.

The Graves County Circuit Clerk’s office says Redmon’s trial is set for April 9.
