The Kentucky Department for Local Government announced in a release Hickman County will receive a $714,000 community development block grant to rehabilitate homes in two small communities. Eight homes in total in Oakton and Moscow will be redone to be more energy efficient, safer and up to state housing standards. County officials found seven of those homes were beyond repair due to crumbling foundations. Those homes will be torn down and rebuilt. The grant comes the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The city of Paducah received a $200,000 grant from the federal department in 2018 to cover the costs of an opioid treatment center.
