Governor Andy Beshear reported 191 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number to 11,883 cases.
He said 302,347 total tests have been administered, 508 Kentuckians are currently hospitalized because of COVID-19 and 68 people are currently in the ICU.
“While we are not currently in that decrease that we had for at least a couple weeks, we do not see that day after day continuing increase and that’s good news,” he said.
Beshear said all counties except for Robertson have reported a coronavirus case.
Beshear also reported seven new deaths related to coronavirus, including three people from Logan County. Six of those deaths are attributed to residents of long-term care facilities. He said 3,375 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
Beshear urged people to get tested for coronavirus. He said current testing sites for this week all have additional slots open. He said people can sign up for testing this week in Bowling Green, Louisville, Lexington and Elizabethtown. He said there are 189 testing facilities open across the state. The testing site in Bowling Green will also be open next week.
Cabinet for Health and Family Services Secretary Eric Friedlander said people can compare Kentucky’s response to the nation and “know that we have done a very good job.”
Friedlander said the state has provided a great amount of support to nursing facilities, such as streamlining eligibility processes and providing testing at no-charge.
Beshear said people should register for an absentee ballot at govoteky.com by June 15. The primary election is June 23 and all mail-in ballots must be postmarked by then as well.
