The mayor of Paducah and the Ballard County Judge-Executive will head to China to strengthen relationships with executives investing in the Wickliffe paper mill.

In August 2018, Global Win signed a letter of intent to purchase the former Verso Corporation paper mill in Wickliffe with a $150 million investment. Shanying International Holdings, Global Win’s parent company, invited Judge Todd Cooper and Mayor Brandi Harless to attend a conference for global employees. Harless said she’s looking forward to discussing potential new partnerships for additional economic development opportunities that will benefit this entire region.

According to the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, eight Chinese-owned companies operate facilities in Kentucky, currently employing more than 8,000 people.
