Second Coronavirus Case Confirmed In Calloway County

Commonwealth of Kentucky

The Calloway County Health Department confirms the county’s second case of the novel coronavirus. The announcement comes as the virus is spreading in west Kentucky with reported cases in Lyon County and McCracken County

The health department says it’s working to identify and contact those who may have been exposed to the patient. Those individuals will be monitored for symptoms of the virus.

“We believe the risk to the public is low,” said Health Department Nursing Director Kim Paschall. “The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. However, there are simple preventative actions you can do to help prevent the spread of the virus.”

Those preventative actions include washing your hands, avoiding touching your face, covering your mouth when coughing and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
