President Donald Trump is endorsing Republican Tennessee congressman David Kustoff just days before the state’s primary election.

Kustoff was elected Tennessee’s 8th District U.S. House Representative in 2016. Trump said in a tweet Tuesday that Kustoff has been a "champion for the Trump agenda." He added that Kustoff is "strong on crime and borders, loves our military, veterans and second amendment."

Kustoff lives in Germantown and has served in various Republican Party positions since his political career began in 1995. He served as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee under President George W. Bush and was appointed to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission in 2015 by Governor Bill Haslam.

Kustoff faces George Flinn Jr. and Colleen Owens in Tennessee’s August 2 primary election. Flinn is a physician and entrepreneur from Memphis. Owens is a realtor from Jackson.
