(Update: Child, Driver Identified) Two-Year-Old Girl Struck and Killed in Clarksville

Update Wednesday: Authorities have identified the child struck and killed by an SUV Monday and the driver involved in the incident.

Clarksville police spokeswoman Natalie Hall says 27-year-old Joseph Pennington was leaving a parking space at a townhouse in South Clarksville.

He said before leaving in his Ford Expedition he saw a child on a scooter farther up the road but didn't see any other children. When he started backing out, two people signaled him to stop. He got out of the SUV and saw he struck 2-year-old Delaney Mae-Lynn Jean Garner. She had been playing in a grassy area and crossed behind the vehicle.

Hall says Pennington has not been charged in the incident and police don't anticipate any charges.
