PJ Clark Lumber To Locate New Operation In Cadiz

PJ Clark Lumber

A Texas lumber company has announced plans to move into an existing facility in Trigg County.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced the move Thursday, saying PJ Clark Lumber will create 35 full-time jobs and invest $5 million..

The new facility will occupy the former Little River Dry Kiln facility, an operation that includes 11 dry kilns, a grading facility, and a 23 acre warehouse, according to a release.

The company will source lumber from local partners in Kentucky to be kiln-dried and processed and distribute the final product for residential construction.

Jacob Wadlington, PJ Clark Lumber’s founder, and CEO, is a Trigg County native and said he looks forward to expanding in his hometown.

“I’ve always known that there is tremendous value in the Western Kentucky community, and as I advanced in my career as a construction executive in Texas, I’ve sought ways to connect the two markets,” Wadlington said.

PJ Clark Lumber was founded earlier this year and is headquartered in Coppell, Texas. It produces lumber for the multifamily and single-family house construction market. A portion of the company’s green lumber is sourced from TW Lumber sawmill in Cadiz, which has been owned and operated by the Wadlington family for more than 25 years.

Company leaders say they will create13 full-time jobs during the first year of operation and grow to at least 35 employees by 2023.

Beshear said the investment and planned job creation underscores the state’s economic momentum as the state builds back following the pandemic.

“I want to welcome PJ Clark Lumber to Kentucky. The 35 jobs created through this project will greatly benefit families in Western Kentucky. Considering this company is also led by a Trigg County native, it truly is a special project for the region,” Beshear said.

The company received a 15-year incentive agreement with the Kentucky Business Investment program, which can provide up to $750,000 in tax incentives based on the company’s investment and job creation.
