Latino students make up the largest minority group of America's school-age population -- and there's broad consensus that public schools are not doing a good job of meeting their needs. In the third report of a five-part series on educating Latinos, Jessica Jones of member station WUNC reports on the shortage of qualified bilingual education teachers. Browse online resources about the issues, and learn about each of the reports in this series.

White House Travel Office Report
NPR's Barbara Bradley reports today, a federal appeals court released the final report of Independent Counsel Robert Ray on the firings of White House travel office employees in 1993. As Ray had announced in a preliminary report, he finds that Hillary Rodham Clinton gave investigators factually inaccurate statements as to her involvement with the firings. But he also says she may not have known they were false because she may not have known the influence she had with officials who made the firing decision.

The bipartisan committee issued 19 recommendations for improving the nation's intelligence services, but did not single out individuals for blame. NPR's Larry Abramson reports.

Forest elephants in central Africa are being slaughtered in record numbers. The most comprehensive study ever, done over a decade, shows that poaching — mostly for the Asian market for ivory — has put the forest elephant on the brink of extinction. Poaching has overcome laws and treaties to protect the species. The U.S. government and wildlife groups are struggling to slow the killing. A meeting in March of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species will focus on solutions. Audie Cornish talks to Christopher Joyce.
