Arab Summit
NPR's Michael Sullivan in Cairo reports Arab leaders are gathering in the Egyptian capital for a week-end summit conference, called to voice support for the Palestinians in their confrontation with Israel. Egyptian analysts expect the summit to conclude with a strong denunciation of Israel, but also with a reaffirmation of support for the peace process.
Ivory Coast
NPR's Kenneth Walker in Abidjan reports an opposition candidate is claiming a surprise victory in Sunday's presidential election in Ivory Coast. Laurent Gbagbo says he has defeated Retired General Robert Guei who came to power in last year's military coup.
Alaska's Anti-Property Tax
Residents of Alaska already enjoy the lowest tax tax burden in America. But on election day, voters will decide if they want to place a cap on their property tax. From member station KTOO in Juneau, Anne Sutton reports.
Turkey Calling
In West Virginia, wild turkey hunting season is underway. About ten-thousand of the birds are bagged annually in the state. Hunters try to imitate the turkeys' call to attract them. Dan Heyman of West Virginia Public Radio has a report on the art, science and sport of turkey calling.
Yugoslavia Culture
Two weeks after the deposing of longtime President Slobodan Milosevic, Yugoslavia is undergoing a cultural revival. Music, television and other arts which were tightly controlled under the former regime are enjoying new-found freedom of expression. NPR's Sylvia Poggioli reports from Belgrade.
Middle East Violence
NPR's Jennifer Ludden reports Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen have been battling on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Israel says it will seal off the village of Beit Jala from where Palestinians have repeatedly opened fire on a nearby Jewish neighborhood.
Incarcerated Felons Voting
NPR's Tovia Smith reports on one of the ballot questions facing the people of Massachusetts this election: whether incarcerated felons should be allowed to vote. Inmate advocates say taking the vote away from incarcerated felons is excessively punitive and racially discriminatory.

NPR's Peter Kenyon reports on a large rally yesterday in Grand Chute, Wisconsin, for Republican Presidential candidate George W. Bush. Wisconsin went Democratic in the last three national elections, but this time, the state appears to be up grabs.

When the heat gets too close, every mobster has a hideout. Chicago's Al Capone had plenty. Now one of Capone's get-aways is up for auction, with bids coming in from around the world. NPR's Cheryl Corley reports.
Castro In Venezuela
NPR's Martin Kaste reports from Caracas on Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to Venezuela. Castro has received a warm welcome from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has embraced the Cuban leader as a friend and mentor.
