NPR and Member stations in Appalachia and the Mid-South have launched a collaboration aimed at strengthening local news coverage and bringing more stories from this region to the rest of the country. The new Appalachia + Mid-South Newsroom is a collaboration between West Virginia Public Broadcasting, WPLN and WUOT in Tennessee, LPM, WEKU-Lexington/Richmond, WKMS-Murray and WKU Public Radio in Kentucky.

These are the folks that keep WKMS going from reporting important stories, to hosting your favorite programs to keeping your membership up to date, and also minding all the technical components that keep WKMS on the air.

The WKMS Community Calendar provides free online listings on behalf of non-profit organizations serving the listening community. All submissions are reviewed and approved by an editor at WKMS before appearing on the site. If you do not see your event right away, please wait 24 hours before re-submitting. Please note that we do not check event details, and we don’t take responsibility for inaccurate information. Please contact WKMS or mdavis53@murraystate.edu if you notice inaccurate information in event listings.

WKMS does not publish listings for the following:

- Events that are only open to members of a particular club or organization
- Political or advocacy events (an exception may be made for forums or debates at which all major candidates or sides of an issue are represented)
- Events that generate funds for for-profit organizations
