  • Roger Miller is a musical legend. No, we're not talking about Mr. "King of the Road." This is the Roger Miller who fronted the early '80's Boston band, Mission of Burma. Today, this Roger Miller is best-known for his work with the silent film ensemble, Alloy Orchestra.   • Krakauer is the author of the book Into Thin Air, about the disastrous 1996 Mount Everest climb in which eight climbers were killed. His new book, Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith, is about Mormon fundamentalism and the story of the two Lafferty brothers who murdered a woman and her infant daughter because they say that they had received a revelation from God to do so. Krakauer reports there are some 40,000 Mormon fundamentalists in the American West, Canada and Mexico. The Mormon Church does not recognize fundamentalists as part of their faith.
  • Pizzerias in Canada's Niagara Falls region say they've been offered cases of cheese smuggled from the U.S. In Canada, cheese costs three times as much as it does in the U.S. So drivers are paid a lot to drive contraband cheese across the border. CBC News reports Niagara police officers are alleged to be in on the scam.
