Elle covers education for KCUR. The best part of her job is talking to students. Before coming to KCUR in 2014, Elle covered Indiana education policy for NPR’s StateImpact project. Her work covering Indiana’s exit from the Common Core was nationally recognized with an Edward R. Murrow award. Her work at KCUR has been recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association and the Kansas City Press Club. She is a graduate of the University Of Missouri School Of Journalism. A Columbia University graduate, Fred began his journalism career as a print reporter in Vermont, then came to Maine Public in 2001 as its political reporter, as well as serving as a host for a variety of Maine Public Radio and Maine Public Television programs. Fred later went on to become news director for New England Public Radio in Western Massachusetts and worked as a freelancer for National Public Radio and a number of regional public radio stations, including WBUR in Boston and NHPR in New Hampshire.

Lisa Gillespie is WFPL's Health and Innovation Reporter. Most recently, she was a reporter for Kaiser Health News. During her career, Gillespie has covered all things health — from Medicaid and Medicare payment policy and rural hospital closures to science funding and the dietary supplement market.

Taylor is a recent Murray State University graduate where she studied journalism and history. When she's not reporting for WKMS, she enjoys creative writing and traveling. She loves writing stories that involve diversity, local culture and history, nature and recreation, art and music, and national or local politics. Eddie Sheridan comes to WKMS after spending nearly 10 years in non-profit radio. He holds an undergraduate degree in English/Professional Writing and is currently attending Murray State University to obtain a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health/Counseling. He has worked in print journalism as a reporter for the Murray Ledger & Times newspaper and has performed freelance writing for publications such as The Lane Report magazine in Lexington.

Shelly Baskin works in MSU's Office of Regional Outreach and is a graduate student in Occupational Safety and Health. A roustabout from Memphis, Tennessee, Shelly first found his way into WKMS through the newsroom back in 2011 through luck, charm and force of will. Though he left news for another position, he still enjoys working on independent radio projects and volunteering for the station. He’s an avid disc golfer and occasional real golfer and is terrible at both. A lover of all things musical, Shelly is always ready to hear something new and unique.

John Dressler is a retired professor of music at Murray State University. He joined MSU in 1989 after receiving his Masters and Doctorate at Indiana University. John's areas of interest include french horn, musicology and world civilization. His personal works include performances with Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, a featured soloist for the International Horn Society Conference, and "Recording Reviews" in the Journal of the International Horn Society volumes 33 and 34. John is now the host of Classical Encore, on WKMS Classical

John Griffin has volunteered his on-air talents on WKMS for almost 25 years. According to WKMS Program Director Mark Welch, “listeners will remember his affable announcing style and love of good music on Stateline Blues, a legacy blues program which aired Saturday nights at 7 after A Prairie Home Companion.” Griffin has served Murray State University for 32 years as faculty in the University Library and an Adjunct Instructor in the Modern Languages Department. Since 1991 he has been involved with study abroad programs and is now Resident Director for MSU’s Semester in Regensburg Germany.

Journalist Gabe Bullard has been appointed News Director of WFPL, following a national search. WFPL provides local, national and international news to Metro Louisville and is part of the locally owned and operated not-for-profit Louisville Public Media.
