Mexican Elections
Today, Mexican voters go to the polls in what is expected to be the most hotly-contested presidential election in the country's history. Mexican voters in the U-S will be participating, as well. Eric Roy reports from member station KCRW in Santa Monica, Ca., that as many as 200-thousand are expected to cast ballots in the U-S.
Barak's Home Troubles
Hard-line Israeli conservatives rallied in Tel Aviv today in the largest demonstration in Israeli history. They want to oppose any concessions by Prime Minister Ehud Barak at the Camp David Peace Talks. NPR's Linda Gradstein reports, that's the opposition is not necessarily the majority sentiment in Israel.
Smithsonian Donation
The National Museum of American History -- part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC -- is being given 80-million-dollars. Real estate developer and philanthropist Kenneth Behring is making the gift, which is the largest single donation the Institution has ever received. Noah talks to Smithsonian Institution Secretary Lawrence Small.
Olympic Controversy/ Wrapup
NPR's Eric Weiner reports that drag queens will be a feature of the Olympic closing ceremonies in Sydney. The thought that somehow drag queens are associated with all things Australian has a lot of people up in arms but others say female impersonation has a long history in Australia and deserves to be represented in tomorrow's events.
