over Ellis Island... where some 16-million immigrants entered the U.S. The small island was signed over to New York in 1834, but the island was expanded with landfills into New Jersey waters. Now, New Jersey want a piece of the revenue generated by tourists visiting Ellis Island. Starting today, a special master appointed by the U.S. Supreme Court will hold hearings to resolve the dispute.

protesters and access to clinics where abortions are available. Yesterday, the Court ruled that such clinics are entitled to maintain a 15-foot buffer zone around their entrances to protect the free access of patients and staff members. But the Justices struck down 'floating buffer zones,' which protect the space around patients and staff members going in and out of those clinics.
David Welna Reports From Quito Where The Ecuadoran Government Is Divided
over who holds presidential control of their country. Congress ousted the country's unpopular president last week, then yesterday, Ecuador's Vice-President was temporarily sworn in, becoming the country's first female leader. She plans to stay in office until the constitution can be changed, but Congress wants her to step down tomorrow. Ecuador's constitution does not follow a clear line of succession to replace a deposed president.
Elephant Poaching Pushes Species To Brink Of Extinction
Forest elephants in central Africa are being slaughtered in record numbers for their ivory tusks, a decade-long study finds. The U.S. government and wildlife advocacy groups are struggling to slow the killings as poaching is overcoming laws and treaties intended to protect the species.
