  • Alexandra Kanik brings the numbers to life as the data reporter for WFPL News and the Ohio Valley ReSource. She also serves on the Reader Advisory Board for MediaShift, where she was metrics section editor. Alexandra grew up in Pittsburgh and studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art. She began her career in journalism with PublicSource, a non-profit news organization in Pittsburgh, as interactive developer and metrics analyst. The University of Michigan recently named Alexandra a finalist for the Livingston Awards for Young Journalists, which honors the best journalism professionals under the age of 35.
  • ReSource managing editor Jeff Young has reported from Appalachian coalfields, Capitol Hill, and New England’s coast, among other places. Jeff worked for West Virginia Public Broadcasting and was Washington correspondent for the nationally distributed program Living on Earth. Recently, he directed communications for ocean conservation with The Pew Charitable Trusts in Boston. Jeff grew up near Huntington, West Virginia, and studied journalism and biology at Marshall University and the University of Charleston. His reporting has been recognized with numerous awards and he was named a 2012 Nieman Journalism Fellow at Harvard University.

  • Christopher Connelly is a KERA reporter based in Fort Worth. Christopher joined KERA after a year and a half covering the Maryland legislature for WYPR, the NPR member station in Baltimore. Before that, he was a Joan B. Kroc Fellow at NPR – one of three post-graduates who spend a year working as a reporter, show producer and digital producer at network HQ in Washington, D.C.
  • Sarah Schneider comes to Pittsburgh by way of the prairie state of Illinois. She spent the summer of 2014 getting to know Pittsburgh as a reporting and photography intern with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She now collaborates on special projects including the Life of Learning Initiative as the station’s PULSE - Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience - fellow. Sarah graduated from Southern Illinois University’s Journalism School in May. During her four years there she worked as a reporter and editor at the school newspaper, the Daily Egyptian. She has previously interned at newspapers in eastern Idaho and central Illinois. You can often find Sarah behind a camera documenting people she meets and discovering new places. She also enjoys reading, crocheting and National Geographic documentaries.
