Defense Secretary Leon Panetta says the military will not be intimidated by the attacks on U.S. soldiers in the wake of the Quran burnings. He made the comments today during a visit to Fort Campbell, where hundreds of soldiers will deploy this year as a part of a new Afghanistan advisory mission. Panetta told troops the attacks on coalition forces by Afghan security forces or insurgents wearing Afghan uniforms were "isolated incidents." He says insurgents are using the attacks to undermine American forces because the Taliban is not effective at combat operations. Six U.S. troops were killed by Afghan security forces or militants disguised in their uniforms during several days of demonstrations over the burning of the holy books by U.S. soldiers last month.
