The City of Murray Human Rights Commission will host a Bullying Conference on Saturday, April 6, 2013 on the main campus of Murray State University. The gathering will take place in the Curris Center’s Mississippi and Barkley Rooms between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The agenda features sessions by:
- Dr. Allan Beane, Founder and President of Bully Free Systems;
- Becki Cohn-Vargas, Director of the national Not in Our Schools organization
- Karen McCuiston, Director of the Kentucky Center for Schools Safety at Murray State University; and
- Susan and Morgan Guess, citizen activists against bullying from Paducah, KY.
The final session at the conference will be a showing of the award-winning film “Bully” that was shown in Paducah during 2012 and in Murray during March, 2013.
“Through Murray’s Bully Free Community Education Campaign the past three months, we have hosted meetings with community leaders, a town-hall meeting, and showings of ‘Bully’,” said Jody Cofer, Murray Human Rights Commission chairperson. “This conference is the next step in the campaign to raise the visibility of bullying and engage citizens in a dialogue about how we respond with one voice to say bullying has no place in Murray, Calloway County, or western Kentucky.”

Registrations should be submitted to the Murray Human Rights Commission at humanrightscommission@murrayky.gov. Registrations received by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3 will include a complimentary box lunch.
