MCCH Moving Forward with Hospice House Project

MCCH

The Murray-Calloway County Hospital Board of Directors has formally moved to proceed with the construction of the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.

The planned six-bed, $3.5 million facility will be an acute care, inpatient facility that is specifically designed to address patients facing end-of-life scenarios.

The Murray-Calloway Endowment for Healthcare solicited donations for the project. Vice president of development Keith Travis said this is the first major project at MCCH to ever be funded completely through philanthropic donations.

An anonymous donor kicked things off with a $1.5 million pledge, and the rest came in many forms from more than 7,000 donors.

The construction of the facility is expected to take 18-24 months, with groundbreaking to occur in early 2014.
